Juice Festival Artist Commissions
Juice is an exciting, multi-artform festival creating work with, by and for children, young people and their families. Juice Festival takes place throughout NewcastleGateshead in October half term each year (proposed dates for 2015 are 24th October - 1st November). The week leading up to the festival focuses on schools, to enable school children to present, see and share work as part of the festival.
The 2015 festival will be the first step in a journey that will see Juice become a leader in commissioning and creating exciting and innovative art that is truly led by children and young people. We are looking to produce two (possibly more) new artworks for this year’s festival that will help us begin this process.
This year’s festival has the theme Seen and Heard, to raise the profile and visibility of children and young people’s creativity and culture and give them a platform to create and share work.
We are seeking creative ideas that are high quality and captivating and will deliver a project that has opportunities for children, families and /or young people to be involved. This could be as performers, producers, curators, or via workshops and other activities to develop the work itself. Proposals should be engaging and accessible but can also be targeted at particular age ranges or types of audience.
Proposals can be for medium or small scale installations, as a single event or a number of performances. Proposals can include any type of artistic activity but we are particularly interested in work that has strong digital / new media content and may be presented on a range of online platforms as well as a ‘live’ experience during the festival. Proposals can be for work presented in a gallery, a venue or outdoor/ public realm settings.
Details are given in the documents below. Please return your commission ideas prior to the deadline for submission, as specified below.
