Event helps businesses showcase their wares

24th February 2011

Categories: Latest News

The tourism season for businesses officially kicks off with Distribution 2011 on 10 March.

The region’s biggest annual exchange event is organised by Tourism Tyne and Wear and gives local tourism businesses the opportunity to exchange promotional material, network and learn more about what’s going on in the destination in the coming year, equipping them with everything they need to inform visitors about the destination.

Building on the success of last year’s event, attendees at Distribution 2011 look set to include some of North East England’s top attractions, accommodation providers, and other businesses who deal with visitors to the area every day.

Paul Irwin, from East Coast Taxi’s said; “We’re always looking for ways we can network and communicate with other tourism businesses. In the past the team have taken part in the Welcome to Tyne and Wear destination training delivered by Tourism Tyne and Wear, and events like Distribution are just as important providing excellent opportunities to meet and network with fellow industry professionals in the North East.

“Distribution 2011 is vital for Tyne Idols, our pop music based visitor tours, allowing us to build mutually beneficial relationships with other tourism businesses, ensuring we provide visitors with the most varied and exciting experiences across our vibrant region.”

The event takes place on Thursday 10 March 11.00 – 13.00 at The Park Sports Centre in North Shields. So far over 80 businesses have signed up to attend.

Tourism Tyne and Wear’s business relationship manager, Paul Szomoru, said: “I can’t stress enough how effective events like this are at helping tourism businesses network and raise issues relevant to them.”

As well as exhibiting, businesses are also encouraged to bring front-line employees to the event, so they can refresh their knowledge of what’s going on in the region and inform visitors of the varied experiences to be enjoyed across North East England.

Paul added: “We’ve had an encouraging response from the industry with many organisations having already signed up. Distribution 2011 is a free event and I urge all tourism businesses big or small to get involved”.

The event is free to attend for businesses looking to learn more about what’s happening across the destination in 2011. For more information or to reserve a free exhibition space, contact Roisin Cook on 0191 440 5730 roisin.cook@tourismtyneandwear.com
