Discover Eggsellent Deals for the whole family

5th April 2012

Categories: Latest News

As the region’s parents get ready to entertain the family this Easter break, NewcastleGateshead Initiative’s popular Discover Pass has had a make-over with over 100 discounts and deals across the North East now available online.

Launched in 2008, the Discover Pass was previously available to buy for £10 at tourist information centres offering residents and visitors to NewcastleGateshead, and the wider region, primarily family focused deals at attractions. But, following a move to sell the Pass online in 2010, it has now been replaced with Discover Deals – more than 100 FREE downloadable discounts at not only attractions, but bars, restaurants, hotels and venues – making the offers more relevant to visitors of all ages and interests.

Destination management and marketing organisation, NewcastleGateshead Initiative has been managing the scheme for the past four years and made the decision this year to make the deals more accessible to users via a range of digital platforms.

Sarah Stewart, chief executive at NewcastleGateshead Initiative, said “Online discounts are becoming more popular, with bargain hunters sourcing great offers for a host of facilities and services. Our new approach to supplying Discover Deals online enables residents and visitors to NewcastleGateshead to both download and print vouchers from a personal computer, and directly source a Deal via their smart phone.

“Importantly, the approach also allows us to work with our partners at VisitEngland to profile NewcastleGateshead as part of their Holidays at Home are Great campaign, making the Deals searchable via the national Great 2012 Offers website.”
