Getting Around

Getting around is quick and easy by Metro

With St James’ Park right in the heart of the city centre, you’ll find NewcastleGateshead a fantastic destination to explore on foot and by public transport. We expect the city and transport to be busier than usual, so please arrive early and allow plenty of time to get to St James' Park and avoid disappointment.

Everything you need to know about getting to Newcastle before or on match day can be found on the Rugby World Cup website.

Hints and Tips

  • Arrive early or delay your departure - there are plenty of things to see and do in Newcastle before and after the matches at St James' Park.
  • Avoid travelling around the city at peak times.
  • Look out for the Rugby World Cup signage around the city - highlighting the best walking route to St James' Park.
  • The Pack - our friendly volunteers will be on hand on match days to help you get to the venue.
  • Absorb the atmosphere and visit the Official Fanzone at Science Central. Plenty of places to eat, drink and watch other matches.
  • Remember there will be restrictions on what you can take into the stadium.
